Title I, Part A : Basic Grant 

Public School Choice & Supplemental Services

LEA's are required to provide notice to parents about school
choice and Supplemental Education Services. (SES)

SES providers are approved by the California Department of Education to

        serve eligible students in eligible schools in Palermo Union School District.

Title III, Part A : Limited English Proficient (LEP)

Title III supports language instruction for limited - English proficient and immigrant students.

The California English Language Development Test (CELDT) is a required state test for English language proficiency that must be given to students whose primary language is other than English.

 

The Palermo Union School District English Learner (EL) Program provides services for
English learners to:
  • ensure that they acquire English-language proficiency
  • recoup any academic deficits that may have been incurred while learning English
  • promote cross-cultural understanding, and
  • provide equal access to the core curriculum provided for all students  
The fundamental goal of the program is for EL students to function successfully in the English language and to maintain comparable academic progress with English only students.
